The Summary - The Branches of Philippine Government
It is simplified and easily understandable. Here are the different branches and their functions.
The Executive Branch
The
executive branch consist of President, Vice President, Secretaries of different
departments, Governors, Mayors of both Municipal and City levels, and Barangay
Captains. Their roles are to put the laws into action and also implement
different projects, policies, allocate funds, manage and control the country,
and to act in accordance to the constitution.
They
administer and implement different ordinances of laws and by the mandate, to
serve as the head of different political divisions, with the President the head
of state and government. A president can serve 6 year single term, whereas
Governors, Mayors and Barangay Captains can have two, three-year terms. The
department secretaries are appointed by the president. The President is the
Commander in chief of the armed forces and has the right to declare emergency
in events of distress. The president has the power to veto a law that was
passed by the legislative. However, it can be overturned by 2/3 of the
congressional vote.

The Legislative Branch
The
legislative branch are the ones who create laws base on the nature, needs, and
the constitutionality with the existing Philippine laws that tackles everyday
life issues of the nation. They are consists of Senators with the Senate
President as the Leader, congressmen of the House of Representatives, and
different legislative levels between political divisions.
They
create laws for the benefit of the people. They are the ones who determine the
tax bracket that serves as the Government’s life line. They can impeach an
executive and Judiciary officials that includes the President or Chief Justice.
They are assigned to different committees and also have the right to
investigate allegations within the government.

Judiciary Branch
The
Judiciary Branch makes up by the Chief Justice, different associate justices,
and different prosecutors from different regional and metropolitan trial
courts. The Sandiganayan, and the Court of Tax Appeals are also part of the
Judiciary.
They
are the ones who question the constitutionality of the laws passed by the
legislative. Likewise, they are the ones who impose a temporary restraining
order that will legally stop activities based on different complaints made by
the complainant. Also, the Supreme Court can overturn any decision made by the
different trial courts. However, such matters are needed investigation and
technicalities required by law. A Chief Justice is indeed appointed by the
President.
